Not all spirits are holy spirits. Not every worship is holy worship. What sacrifices or to what ‘god’ do we offer our worship upon the altar of our hearts. What do we allow in, to habor, to grow and lay eggs.
Make Holy Christ as Lord in your hearts. A personal command. Christ, this specific person, the “chosen or anointed one” as his name means, is to be made Lord in our hearts. In place of fear we are to offer love, there its to be a surrendering in our hearts as an inner act. By it being an inner act, it is a personal act. This we call our conscience. The abode of God, but we can misform our conscience. There is a personal action but not private. As there is one Jesus, so there is one holy spirit.
So what is the fire of our hearts? The Holy Spirit. Jesus says he is the Paraclete: He advocates when we are accused, he counsels when we are sad, he guides when we are confused and lost. Christ plans to send us his very own spirit, the soul of his body. He is our judge and interpreter.
Jesus was the sign of redemption, Holy Spirit is the sign of adoption. “I will not leave you orphans”. Signs that affect that they symbolize. The cosmos is not able to theorize, nor recognize. He is not something of this universe. He raises us up and we have to then choose Christ as our God. Leads us out of isolation.
In this month of May, we look at the specific way in which Mary fulfilled this role. Many of the Church Fathers said that Mary conceived Jesus in her heart before she conceived him in her womb. Every time we hear of Mary’s mention, it was said that she “reflected upon these things, pondering them in her heart”. Mary is called the Spouse of the Holy Spirit and that she was so full of the Holy Spirit at the moment of her conception of Jesus that she did not have to receive the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
St. Louis De Montefort very beautifully says that if we want to be filled with the Holy Spirit, we start by filling ourselves and imitating Mary. As the faithful spouse, where ever Mary is there will the Holy Spirit be as well. And as much space we make in our hearts for Mary, that is the amount the Holy Spirit has to take since he completely filled Mary.
