Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone sees only one part or sees something in reference to past experiences. Some see roses having thorns, some see thorns having roses some refuse to see the thorns, others refuse to see the flowers. What does Jesus see?
To see ourselves as Jesus sees us. He sees situations more seriously but also more promise. He knows the needs we have. His heart was physically pained at the sight of them. He sees our lack of direction, we hurry along a path with no knowledge of where we are going. He sees the potential of the apostles but also the struggle we have: Jesus needs us and sees in us the ability to respond and work in the specific place and situation we are in, but he sees our biggest need and biggest struggle, the central mission: God’s unconditional love
The spiritual has no price, it cant be bought or earned. 2nd reading. Nothing we merit, one of the hardest ones its “unconditional love” to love with supernatural. We want to merit it gives us closure, as if the human heart were a door or something. St. Paul even mentions about us being enemies of God. This statement means we had something against God and he loved and forgave us not because we had any reason to.
We who can’t comprehend why we need to be forgiven by God find it impossible to forgive others. We don’t examine our conscience
Hatred is not wrong, its hating the wrong thing that is wrong.
Anger is the most reasonable sin, we think of the wrong done. Angers sees a wrong done and the need to satisfy it. We were enemies and Jesus forgave, so now it is our turn. The impulse of hate is so hard and dives deep. Our enemies tell a lot about ourselves. What we hate in them is what we most commit in ourselves. Fulton Sheen. We see what we are most familiar with or what we have experienced. Jesus sternly tells us to avoid, to pray and to work against it. Being angry at the wrong thing is what is wrong.
The reason for forgiveness is ignorance and forgiveness has no limits. If we forgive because we say we know not what they do, we will be forgive because Jesus says he remembers not what we did.
So too we must work with our enemies. When we chose to apply that they don’t know, Jesus more will apply he doesn’t remember. Unconcious ignorance is our salvation. We must put what they are focusing on, whats in their mind and know they are ignorant of hurt
God calls us his specific people. We are called to be special. Jesus’s words are addressed to all of us. We must be laborers. How do we do that? Smile, keep eyes fixed on Jesus.
